SERDANG, 25 September – The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized the Hari Menulis IKP 2025 series, featuring an inspiring keynote address by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Ali Hassan titled “The Research Journey: Aligning Publications, Graduation and Societal Impact.”
Held on 25 September 2025 at IKP UPM, the program was attended by postgraduate students and researchers who had the opportunity to hear Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Ali Hassan share insights on aligning research with academic achievements and societal impact.
Prof. Ali, recently listed among the Top 2% Scientists in the World (2024), is a highly respected figure in academia. With over 23,000 citations and an h-index of 77, he is not only a leading reference in the fields of biotechnology and agriculture but also a source of inspiration for the younger generation of researchers.
In his lecture, Prof. Ali emphasized that research should go beyond fulfilling academic requirements, it must be driven by clear purpose, deliver high impact, and be oriented toward societal needs. He also shared personal experiences, the challenges faced throughout his career, and strategies for building a sustainable research ecosystem.
