IKP Secures RM40,000 Industry Research Grant for Sustainable Agricultural Innovation

 

SERDANG, 29 December 2025 – The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has been awarded a research grant worth RM40,000 from Mitsui Chemicals Singapore R&D Centre PTE. LTD. for a pioneering project entitled “Efficacy of dsRNA Molecules on the Suppression of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides through In Vitro Assessment.”

The project, to be carried out over a period of seven months, will be led by Prof. Dr. Wong Mui Yun, FASc, Deputy Director of IKP. It aims to explore innovative approaches in managing plant diseases, contributing to advancements in sustainable agriculture and plantation practices.

The Institute of Plantation Studies congratulates the research team on this achievement, which is expected to deliver significant impact to the agricultural sector while further strengthening industry–academia collaboration.
