IKP was also honoured by the visit of the Vice Chancellor and JPU members to its laboratories and facilities. Among the laboratories visited were the Sustainable Agronomy and Crop Protection Laboratory (SACP), the Processing and Product Development Laboratory (PPD), and the Plantation Systems Technology and Mechanization Laboratory (PSTM). These facilities encompass a wide range of research areas covering upstream, midstream, and downstream activities within the plantation sector. IKP staff and postgraduate students also took the opportunity to engage closely with the Vice Chancellor.

The Vice Chancellor also had the opportunity to observe drone technology equipped with LiDAR, multispectral, and RGB sensors. “The adoption of drone technology in plantation mapping work has significant potential to be further enhanced. This approach aligns with the advancement of precision agriculture practices and has strong potential to support the planning and preparation phases of new agricultural areas at UPM,” he said.

All IKP members express their deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and all JPU members for their presence and strong support in strengthening IKP’s pursuit of continuous excellence.
