SERDANG, October, 27th- The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), welcomed delegates from Coconut Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS), China. The visit aimed to foster academic exchange and strengthen research collaboration between CATAS and UPM. During the meeting, both parties shared insights on current research directions, recent findings in coconut science, and explore avenues for joint initiatives in tropical agriculture. |

CATAS delegates comprised the following members Prof. Dr. Yang Yaodong (Director/ Researcher), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yang Weibo (Researcher), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wu Yi (Researcher) and Mr. Liew, Liaison Agent facilitating Malaysia–China research collaboration. The delegates were welcomed by the IKP Deputy Director, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Wong Mui Yun and Prof. Datin Dr. Siti Nor Akmar Abdullah (IKP Fellow Researcher). As part of the visit, the delegation had a chance toured in UPM’s coconut cultivation area in Ladang 14 to gain firsthand knowledge of local cultivation practices and observe ongoing field research. This engagement reflects a shared commitment to advancing coconut research and promoting international cooperation in tropical agricultural sciences. |
