
Putrajaya, 11 Dec- Institute of Plantation Studies hosted a "Networking Dinner: Academic in Action on Oil Palm Research" at the Le Meridien Putrajaya in collaboration with Advances Agriecological Research Sdn Bhd (AARSB) as a main sponsor. The meet-up is organized to provide an opportunity of networking for academic researchers in the R&D sector of oil palm and exchange insights in a relaxing setting. The dinner was graced by the presence of Deputy Vice Chancellor Research & Innovation of UPM, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Zamberi Sekawi, Director General of Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB), YBhg. Datuk Dr.Ahmad Parveez Hj Ghulam Kadir and Director of Research of AARSB, YBrs. Dr. Tasren Nazir Mahamooth.

About 70 researchers from various universities and agencies such as UPM, MPOB, UKM, UM, UTM, UiTM, Monash University, UNIMAS and UMS has joined this event. Not to forget the IKP close collaborators, researchers from AARSB, TenAsia Corporation Sdn Bhd, PT Riset Perkebunan Nusantara and the University of Tokyo participate during this event.

"Networking is about building lasting relationships. Let's look for ways to collaborate and support each other. We are welcoming of any collaboration for the long-term sustainability of oil palm, said Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo, Director, Institute of Plantation Studies, UPM.

This first event of networking dinner is a stepping stone to enhance collaboration between higher education institutions, agencies & industry players in oil palm plantation sector towards future R&D transformation contributing to the national economy. The dinner, accompanied by the singing of performers from the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts & Cultural Centre, UPM lasted for about three hours, during which all the researchers enjoyed a truly delightful evening.
