SERDANG, 1 October – The Melon to Million program organized by the Plantation Study Institute has entered its second phase involving practical farm activities at the KMK Agro Global Sdn. Bhd. Melon Farm in Banting, Selangor. A visit was held involving a representative from IKP, namely Dr. Fariz Adzmi and a representative from the Melaka State Department of Agriculture, Mrs. Irna Ali who went to the field to inspect the progress of the melon planting program carried out by the participants at the KMK Farm. A total of 38 participants are taking part in rock melon planting practice at the KMK Agro Global Sdn. Bhd. farm in Banting. All participants were supplied with 1000 rock melon seeds to be planted and cultivated for 10-12 weeks. Participants were taught and made their own plant media using coco-peat in polybags, plant plot preparation, irrigation system, fertilizing, poisoning activities and tree care until the harvest process. Through this practical session, participants were seen to be able to follow the training and schedule set by the instructors at KMK Agro Global Sdn Bhd as well as learn melon planting techniques in the right way and also learn sustainable farm management.
