As a pilot project, AgriSMART Lestari is implemented through a strategic collaboration between IKP and the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (LKTN) for the cultivation of sisir (kukur) mushrooms. Through this collaboration, LKTN supplies mushroom blocks made from industrial kenaf biomass, particularly the core of the kenaf plant. This initiative reflects IKP’s commitment to driving transformation in the agricultural sector through the adoption of smart technologies and sustainable practices. With the integration of Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and data-driven approaches, the greenhouse has the potential to serve as a reference model for efficient and environmentally friendly modern agriculture.

The Director of IKP, YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo, emphasised that the project demonstrates IKP’s commitment to advancing agricultural transformation through smart technologies and sustainable farming practices. “With the integration of Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and data-driven approaches, this greenhouse has the potential to become a reference model for efficient and environmentally friendly modern agriculture,” she said. The UPM Vice Chancellor noted that the automated control and monitoring system for mushroom growth, which can be accessed through a mobile application, makes the system more convenient and practical. “AgriSMART Lestari is expected to strengthen the sustainability agenda and contribute to the development of a more innovative agricultural ecosystem,” he added. |
