Introduction

The transgenic greenhouse (TGH) facility was launched on 13 December 2010. The TGH is a gated facility that was designed and constructed to comply with International Biosafety Standards for research in plant biotechnology at Physical Containment Level 2 (PCL-2). It is a research facility of the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The TGH facility includes 3 modern greenhouses built and operated according to Physical Containment Level 2 Guidelines of Australia & New Zealand which it is annually certified as compliant. Besides three independently controlled greenhouse units, it also consists a preparation room and supporting office space.  The facility supports plant biotech research by academics, students and is available for use by plant biotechnology research partners.
