Welcome to Institute of Plantation Studies website!
It gives me great pleasure to introduce the new face of the IKP website as an opportunity to share the Institute’s exciting transformation with our stakeholders. With the appointment of new top management, we continue to shape the direction of the Institute towards greater success and innovation in line with UPM's True North. We have developed a more robust strategic plan to guide our future efforts, taking into account the continuity of IKP's past achievements. This framework not only outlines our overarching goals, but also lays the foundation for tactical planning to ensure the effective implementation of our strategic approach in providing good governance, providing the best learning and living experiences, conducting effective research, fostering collaboration with industry and community, and increasing the contribution of IKP to meet the needs of the plantation and commodity industry agenda at national and international levels.
In line with our commitment to excellence, we are pleased to share that IKP has been entrusted by the university to spearhead two university-driven research programs, namely Plantation Crops and Smart Farming. These programs will leverage IKP's expertise and resources to drive innovation and sustainable practices in the agricultural sector. With niche areas of plantation crops covering commodity crops and new strategic crops, IKP provides a holistic approach to empower the plantation sector by providing four main focuses, which are sustainable agronomy and crop protection; mechanization, automation and digitization; processing and product development; as well as plantation and commodity policies. Our focus on smart farming technologies and practices underscores our dedication to sustainability, efficiency, and productivity in agriculture, which also plays a major role in addressing food security issues. We aim to revolutionize agricultural practices by leveraging cutting-edge innovations driven by science and technology, so that the agricultural sector can grow to be more resilient, more competitive, and provide a high return on value.
I would like to invite you to explore our website to learn more about our latest initiatives, achievements, and the exciting journey ahead. Let us continue to push boundaries, inspire change, and make a meaningful impact on the world together.
