Introduction

Laboratory of Processing and Product Development (PPD) at its best-addressing sustainability issues on the plantation by focusing on research activities that manage and utilize untapped natural resources from agriculture biomass, with prospects to contribute in improving the existing industrial process, support the human environment, and preserve nature. PPD Laboratory aims to:

  • Develop specialized products on performance oleochemical, biofuels, biochemicals, functional foods, and biomaterial
  • Produce a wider range of valuable products with green processing technology while effectively managing solid and liquid wastes to create a zero-waste bioeconomy

The PPD laboratory is committed in conducting fundamental and applied research on downstream plantation areas covering:

  • Efficient Processing Technology for Downstream Application (efficient use of water, efficient use of energy, biomass and wastewater management, milling technology and design)
  • Development of Bio-economy, Bio-Based Products (bioenergy, biochar, compost, climate change mitigation, slow release fertilizer)
  • Diversification of Renewable Sources of Biomass (plantation biomass, woody biomass, agriculture biomass, livestock and fishery industry waste)
