Introduction

Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia has extensive experience in organising four series of training programmes on mineral soil management, conducted at UPM and at industry locations upon stakeholders' request between 2022 and 2024. The programme aims to enhance participants' knowledge and skills in identifying the characteristics and classification of mineral soils, understanding appropriate plantation management practices for high-value crops (HVC), and strengthening practical competencies in mineral soil care and management to improve crop productivity.
