February 28 - Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) had organized Research Seminar Series 2/2022 entitled “Streptomyces: Potential for Sustainable Crop and Protection”. The seminar was delivered by Dr. Erneeza Mohd Hata, research officer from Laboratory of Sustainable Agronomy and Crop Protection, IKP. This online seminar was moderated by Mrs. Farah Zeehan Mohd Nadzri and participated by 100 participants from various agencies, including from UPM, UiTM and Department of Agriculture, Malaysia.
This seminar highlighted the biotechnological potential of beneficial microorganism, Streptomyces spp. for crop health and protection. Mitigation strategies and mechanisms to over calm the plant abiotic and biotic stresses by utilization of Streptomyces spp. as plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) were elaborated and related research findings were also presented in this seminar.
