November, 21^st - Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) had organized the CEO Talk@IKP Program in Agriculture Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Tuan Haji Romzi Ishak,the Head of Research and Development Division, FGV Holdings Berhad, who is also a former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FGV Agri Services Sdn Bhd, was invited as a special guest speaker to the program. Due to his excellent reputation in plantation industry, Tuan Haji Romzi has also been appointed as CEO@IKP since 2022.  During this program, he delivered his talk entitled “Plantation Management: A Sharing Session”.

FGV is one of the world’s largest producers of crude palm oil (CPO) with an estimated output of 3 million metric tonnes (MT) per annum, accounting for 4% of global and 15% of Malaysian CPO production. FGV is a Malaysian-based agribusiness and one of the key players in the Malaysian plantation industry which operates in 9 different countries. Due to this fact, IKP was determined to provide a platform that enables the key player in the plantation industry such as FGV Holdings Berhad to share their experience, knowledge, and insights on the relevant topics.

In this program, Tuan Haji Romzi highlighted the FGV’s standard operational with sustainable and innovative approaches towards the oil palm high-yield production and market-driven product creation. This program was attended by 80 participants representing students, researchers, and players from government and private agencies. Participants especially UPM undergraduate and post-graduate students were able to engage with the topic and had an in-depth understanding of the current practice in oil palm plantation.
