SERDANG, July, 1st – Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) organized a comprehensive training session focused on chemical spill response and the proper use of spill kits on Tuesday, 1 July 2025. The training was held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and involved all staff and students of IKP who may be exposed to chemical spill risks in their daily tasks. The session was facilitated by Mr. Mohamad Johadi Iskandar Che Jamil, Science Officer and Head of the Occupational Safety and Health Section at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital, Universiti Putra Malaysia. |

The training served as a proactive measure against potential chemical-related occupational hazards. Unintentional spills can pose significant risks to personnel safety, environmental integrity, and operational continuity. Hence, the program was designed to reinforce participants' knowledge and skills in handling spills effectively and safely. This initiative aligns with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994) and relevant regulations that mandate employer responsibility in ensuring workplace safety and health.
