Gabungan 1 UPM Secures Overall Runner-Up at Putra I-Games 2026

 

     

SERDANG, 13 February 2026 – The Putra I-Games 2026, which brought together participation from all institutes across Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), concluded with great festivity and a strong spirit of sportsmanship. Congratulations and commendations are extended to the athletes of Gabungan 1 (Institute of Plantation Studies & Institute of Bioscience, UPM) who competed with dedication and determination throughout the championship. The event was officiated by YBrs. Tuan Sheikh Kamarudin Sheikh Ahmad, former Head of Department and Lecturer at the Department of Sports Studies, Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM.

Team G1 delivered an outstanding performance, contributing medals across multiple events and ultimately securing the position of Overall Runner-Up. This achievement stands as a testament to their fighting spirit, discipline, mental strength, and the solid teamwork between the two institutes.

Medal Highlights

  • 🥇 Gold: Men’s Tug of War, Women’s Tug of War, Fit Step
  • 🥈 Silver: 8x50m Relay, Table Tennis, 5-a-Side Penalty, Mixed Chess, Darts, Flip Bottle Challenge
  • 🥉 Bronze: Volleyball, Blindfold Challenge

The dedication and effort shown by the athletes, coupled with the unwavering support from all both institutes, were key factors in this success. Beyond the medals, the championship also strengthened team spirit and collaboration between staff of the Institute of Plantation Studies and the Institute of Bioscience.

Acknowledgement is also extended to the organizers for their initiative in hosting this prestigious sporting event. The Putra I-Games is not merely a competitive platform, but also a valuable avenue to foster closer ties among UPM institutes, cultivate sportsmanship, and nurture competitive athletes.
