Kota Kinabalu, May 27^th — The Malaysia International Cocoa Fair 2025 (MICF2025) was successfully held from 24 to 27 May 2025 at the Sabah International Convention Center (SICC), Kota Kinabalu. In conjunction with the event, the Malaysian International Cocoa Conference 2025 (MICC2025) also took place, drawing experts and stakeholders from across the region.

The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) demonstrated strong support for the event by sending six delegates to MICC2025. The participants included Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo (Director of IKP), Prof. Wong Mui Yun (Deputy Director), Ts. Dr. Anas Mohd Mustafah (Head of Laboratory of Plantation System Technology & Mechanization), Dr. Mahirah Jahari, Mrs. Siti Nooradzah Adam, and Dr. Halimatun Saadiah Hafid.

IKP researchers showcased four oral research presentations during the conference:

• Bio-Based Innovations for Sustainable Cocoa Black Pod Disease Management by Prof. Wong Mui Yun
• Adoption of Digital Technology for Crop Protection Management by Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo
• Non-Destructive Techniques for Cocoa Maturity and Cocoa Pod Borer (CPB) Detection by Dr. Mahirah Jahari
• Potential of Microbit in the Cocoa Plantation Industry by Ts. Dr. Anas Mohd Mustafah

In addition to oral sessions, IKP also contributed through two poster presentations:

• Non-Destructive Estimation of Chlorophyll Content in Cocoa Leaves: Integrating SPAD and Spectral Data by Mrs. Siti Nooradzah Adam
• Isolation and Characterisation of Cellulose from Different Agricultural Biomass by Dr. Halimatun Saadiah Hafid

The active participation and contributions from IKP underscored its commitment to advancing sustainable and digital innovations in the cocoa industry.
