Bandar Baru Bangi, June 5th — The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) paid a courtesy visit to the Mechanization Unit of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) to discuss current challenges in the mechanisation of the palm oil industry and explore potential strategic collaboration between the two agencies.
The IKP delegation, comprising six representatives led by IKP Director, Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Khairunniza Bejo. Other UPM researcher who also joined the visit was Ts. Dr. Anas Mohd Mustafah (Head of Laboratory of Plantation System Technology & Mechanization), Prof. Dr. Norhisam Misron, Dr. Nur Azuan Husin, Prof. Dr. Wan Zuha Wan Hassan dan Dr Fayaz Katper. UPM delegates was warmly received by the MPOB team headed by Dr. Mohd Azwan Mohd Bakri from the Mechanisation Unit.
The meeting provided a platform for constructive dialogue on technical and operational issues involved in modernising Malaysia’s plantation sector. IKP expressed hope that the collaboration initiated through this session would bring substantial benefits to the advancement of the nation's palm oil industry, particularly in innovation and mechanization efficiency.
