March 14- Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) had organized Research Seminar Series 3/2022 entitled “Microwave Applied Technology: Waste to Value Added Products”. The seminar was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rozita Omar, research associate from Laboratory of Processing and Product Development, IKP and a lecturer from Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UPM. This online seminar was moderated by Dr. Erneeza Mohd Hata and participated by 145 participants.
This seminar highlighted the application of microwave technology in transforming biomass waste from a low-value by-product into a renewable energy and bioproduct. The application of microwave heating has gained much attention due to the advantages of rapid and efficient heating which potentially can be implemented in waste pre-treatment process.
