December 15 - Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) had successfully organized an online briefing on IKP Incident Action Plan. This program was participated by all IKP staffs and postgraduate students as a substitute activity for fire drill training which usually conducted physically every year. Objective of this program is to raise awareness among IKP members in dealing with incidence situation so incident action plan and building evacuation can be carried out efficiently. The briefing was chaired by Mrs. Norazlina Zulkefli, as an IKP Incident Commander. All participants were briefed using infographics information about IKP and IKP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members were also introduced during the session. Emergency route for IKP main building and Transgenic Green House (TGH) was explained in detailed, for evacuation during the emergency.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafee Baharudin, the Director of Occupational Safety and Health Management Office (OSH), UPM was invited to deliver an Incident Action Plan briefing based on Malaysian Standard MS 2735: 2021 Emergency preparedness and response (EPR) - Guidelines in managing emergencies in facilities). He emphasized the objective of building evacuation exercise was to evaluate the ERT-PTJ team preparedness including equipment and system readiness in response to incident. Apart of fire incident, IKP should also list out several other possibilities (eg: animal tresspassing) that could happen in IKP, to make sure ERT-IKP team is aware on the first in-house response procedure towards such incident, while waiting for assistance from relevant authorities/professionals.
