Sharing Session Between UPMCS and the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP)

SERDANG, 2nd October– The Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) recently welcomed a visit from UPM Consultancy & Services Sdn. Bhd. (UPMCS) for a knowledge-sharing session focused on services and strategic collaboration opportunities in research and development. The session, held in IKP’s meeting room, was presented by Ms. Norfazila binti Said, Assistant General Manager of UPMCS.

During the session, Ms. Norfazila introduced various services offered by UPMCS, including consultancy project management, laboratory services, clinical and training programs, healthcare facilities, and certification. She also explained the project implementation procedures under Putra Consultancy, which emphasize a clear separation of roles between UPMCS and researchers: UPMCS handles management and financial aspects, while researchers focus on the technical components of the project. To date, UPMCS has played a significant role in managing research in the fields of Medical and Biotechnology Sciences, Engineering Science & Technology, as well as Business Management and Social Sciences.

Interestingly, Ms. Norfazila also shared UPMCS’s aspiration to evolve into a Contract Research Organization (CRO), with a focus on clinical research projects that adhere to ethical standards and international regulations. This session opened opportunities for IKP to explore more structured and high-impact collaborations, in line with the university’s aspiration to strengthen the link between academia and industry.
