SERDANG, July 29^th – Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), UPM successfully organized the Smart Farming Technology Workshop, which was held in Bilik Sidang Jurutera, Faculty of Engineering. The guest speakers were from the Malaysian Rubber Board (Mr. Mohd Hafiz Mohd Hazir, Research Officer), Department of Agriculture Malaysia (Mr. Chong Seng Kiet, Chief Assistant Senior Director, Agricultural Engineering Division), Applied Agricultural Resources Sdn Bhd. (Dr. Chen Zi Yan, Head of Geospatial Section), Malaysian Palm Oil Board (Dr. Mohd Azwan Mohd Bakri, Head of Mechanization and Engineering Unit) and SD Guthrie Research Sdn Bhd. (Mr. Abdullah Zawawi Mohamed, Head of Robotics) was invited to share information related to smart agriculture technology that has been developed in their respective institutions.

The organization of this workshop can provide more in-depth exposure to UPM researchers about the status and way forward regarding Smart Agriculture Technology in related industries and government agencies. The UPM researchers who attended were from the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), the Faculty of Engineering, Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Institute of Mathematical Research (INSPEM), the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology and the Faculty of Science who have benefited from this workshop.
