Sept, 5 – The management members and research officers of the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP), UPM paid a technical visit to Tun Razak Agricultural Research Centre (PPPTR) in Sungai Tekam, Pahang. This visit was led by the Director of IKP, Prof. Dr. Shaufique Fahmi Ahmad Siddique, and was joined by Prof. Dr. Wong Mui Yun (Deputy Director of IKP), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nazmi Mat (Head, Laboratory of Plantation System Technology and Mechanization) and IKP’s researchers. The IKP delegation was welcomed by the management and researchers of FGV Holdings Sdn. Bhd. led by Tuan Haji Romzi Ishak, Head of the Research and Development Division.

Recently, IKP together with FGV Holdings Sdn. Bhd. has held a series of collaborations, including the 13^th Putra Plantation Forum which was held on 17 August 2023 where Tuan Haji Romzi Ishak attended as a guest speaker for the program. This visit was regarded as a platform to discuss the direction of research collaboration and product/technology innovation that can be jointly developed by IKP and FGV Holdings Sdn. Bhd.

Apart from that, IKP researchers also had the opportunity to visit the analytical laboratory of FGV, the oil palm lysimeter site to study the potential of evapotranspiration and the Seed Development Unit. This visit was an initial step in developing a relevant and long-term research collaboration between IKP and FGV Holding Sdn. Bhd.
