March, 15 - Audit of Occupational Safety and Health (PKK) at university level was successfully conducted at the Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP). The audit team consisted of seven auditors from Occupational Safety and Health Management Office (PPKKP), led by Mr. Mohd Azman Ahmad and invited auditor from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital (HSAAH), Mr. Mohamad Johadi Iskandar bin Che Jamil. The audit was conducted on all laboratories, transgenic green house, and management office of IKP.

The audit was conducted on seven main components as listed below:

1. Fire Service Act Compliance: Fire Prevention System
2. Compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, the UPM Occupational Safety and Health Manual 2010 and the UPM Disaster Management Plan 2022
3. Compliance with the Factories and Machinery Act 1967
4. Compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standards of Exposure of Chemical Hazardous to Health) Regulations 2000 (USECHH Regulations)
5. Compliance with the Environmental Quality (Scheduled Wates) Regulations 2005
6. Compliance with the Biosafety Act 2007
7. Past Action Review

The findings from the audit were presented by Lead Auditor, Mr. Azman to IKP staff. Based on the findings, he concluded that IKP has successfully maintained its excellent status for this time. IKP staff are determine to strive to further improve the safety level in the IKP environment to create a safe and healthy work culture.
