May 26- Institute of Plantation Studies (IKP) organized Research Seminar Series 5/2022 entitled “Transformation of Agricultural Products into Value-Added Products: Perspective of Process Engineering” which was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ir Ts. Dr.-Ing Mohd Noriznan Mokhtar. This seminar introduced the simulation package software such as Superpro, and GProms which can be used to evaluate the process behaviour and mechanism in product transformation from raw material to valuable product.

Among studies that use a simulation platform approach are enzyme immobilisation, palm mill design to increase oil extraction rate, oil refinery mill design to reduce contaminants in oil and improve strategies in oil palm biomass management. The simulation design provides information of the whole pilot plant process which enable us to view the process efficiency, cost analysis, product quality and amount of waste generated from the process. Therefore, feasibility study to evaluate the potential product and process development are possible to be explored through an advanced simulation model.
